Frequently Asked Questions |
Q: How do I obtain an application?A: Applications are available on our website, www.osmschool.com.
Q: Why can’t I bring my child on a School tour?A: Our School Tours are an opportunity for parents to preview our school. Having children present often interrupts and distracts our students from their learning. It can also be confusing to your child, as decisions on schooling have not yet been finalized.
Q: Do you have financial aid available?A: There is very limited aid available at this time. Old St. Mary’s School uses the Private School Aid Service to review your financial records and determine eligibility. You must first apply for admission to the school.
Q: How do you decide who gets accepted?A: We are a Catholic parish school. Admission priority is extended to the siblings of our current families, and to those active parishioners who worship and involve themselves in the life of the parish. Consideration will then be given to the children of registered parishioners and others committed to supporting the mission of the school. All parents are expected to be active in the practice of their faith.
Q: If my child isn’t Catholic, does he have to study Religion?A: Yes. Because Old St. Mary’s School is a Catholic school, children will be exposed to the values, customs, rituals, and teachings of the Catholic faith in the tradition of the Second Vatican Council. Children who attend Old St. Mary’s, even though they may not be of the Catholic faith, will be expected to join in these formative activities.
Q: Is there an advantage to getting my application in early?A: No, all applications are reviewed after the January 31 deadline. Then families are invited in to interview with the Pastor, the Principal and a team of teachers.
